Donor Requirements

To ensure the health and safety of both our donor animals, and the pets they save, each donor must meet certain requirements to be considered eligible.

• Dogs must be over 45 lbs, cats over 8 lbs.


• The donor must be between 8 months and 8 years of age.


• The donor must also be spayed or neutered.


• In addition, a good temperament is imperative to making the donation process easy for both the pets and humans involved.

If your pet meets these requirements, please call the NWVBB at (360) 752-5554 to have your pet’s blood typed. We are also happy to answer any questions that you may have. If your dog has a negative blood type, we will send in some blood work to check for diseases, and ask to set up an appointment to start the donation process.
