Java was referred to Bellingham Veterinary and Critical Care from another
veterinary hospital because he had eaten rat poison a few days earlier. Rat
poison prevents blood from clotting, and Java was losing blood through his
intestinal tract, and compressing his heart by bleeding into his chest. Java
received six blood transfusions to replace the blood in his body that could
not clot, as well as other medications to help aid his fight against the poison.
Java went home with his family just 3 days later a very lucky dog.
